What a good story! we bought/read it over a weekend, (wept) and entirely enjoyed Ms. Maarten's writing.
Joy was a good character, she grew in a story like all heroines should, and we didn't once wish to slap her impression silly.
Gabe was also a good character, good hero, and we also didn't once wish to slap him silly! (His sisters were a whole opposite story:')
There was only adequate pathos in a story that my father had to move over a hankie since we wouldn't stop reading and put down my Kindle... Don't get me wrong, only since I'm a weeper doesn't meant that this isn't a smashing story. As we get closer to a holidays we will substantially re-read it.
There's zero like a girl/boy subsequent doorway to make we take a deep, regretful breath!

This is a intrigue that tackles a unequivocally supportive issue: domestic violence. It had some partial that were gut-wrenching, like a night Joy's mom died. We see it from a child's perspective, and we don't consider that is something simply pulled off so we was tender with how a author rubbed it. As an adult, Joy blames herself for her mother's black genocide and works to assistance abused women and their children. Joy was easy to like, and we suspicion she was realistic. Having left by all she did as a child, it was no consternation she was impeded with guilt.
Then along comes Gabe who had grown adult nearby her yet never unequivocally knew her that well. Gabe was a sweetheart. There were no prolonged drawn-out conflicts or misunderstandings--a clear and in my opinion. we don't caring most for romances where a whole book is full of couples arguing or not bargain what a other chairman meant, and sadly, we see this too most in intrigue books. This was not that kind of romance. The author gave me time to caring about a integrate before they confessed their feelings for any other. When a integrate had their misunderstanding, it was resolved quickly.
Overall, this was a heartwarming book. we wanted a happy finale after all Joy had been through, and we wasn't disappointed.

This story should simply have been value 5 stars, yet here are a things that bugged me. First, a modifying & formatting were atrocious. we know it's silly, yet saying selection outlines instead of an apostrophe gathering me crazy. Subject and noun were mostly mismatched. At times a pronoun didn't compare a chairman being referred to. And afterwards there were a sex scenes. They felt contrived, as yet a author was thinking, "Ooh, I'd improved steam things adult a bit. That's what unequivocally sells books these days." Not for me! If we haven't noticed, we am utterly unhappy with what should have been a smashing story ... and a story that needs telling.
