By Susan E. Burris
Imagine awakening one day to learn positively all we know about your life, your family history, your unequivocally temperament is wrong. Now...get on with it!
In his fascinating, humorous and frequently chilling loyal story of discovery, during age 50, that he was incidentally switched with another baby during birth, Al Mascareñas takes his readers on a uncontrolled outing by flourishing adult and flourishing comparison as he seeks to make clarity of it all from a disturbingly different--and unbidden for--new perspective.
Against a backdrop of mid-century cultural, domestic (and chemical) upheaval, Mascareñas tells his story with a singular voice graced by amusement and intelligence. He manages to decently broach low romantic truths unburdened by emotionalism or melodrama.
A constrained story and an beguiling examination that left this reader with a fresh, carefree clarity that a author's incomparable account is distant from finished--that a authentic story of who and what we are is eventually crafted by a possess hands in a possess time.
